Lori Jean Lewis has been selected as one of 12 Zonta International Recipients for the 2013 Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Lori was selected from a field of 31 women from 20 countries that competed in the final round of judging by the International JMK Scholarship Committee. (I believe this is the first time a winner from District 12 has received this award.)
In July, Lori was selected as the District 12 winner. Lori Lewis is a senior at the University of Wyoming majoring in accounting. Her application was submitted by the Zonta Club of Laramie.
The panel of District 12 judges made the decision from a group of 7 highly qualified applicants submitted by clubs in District 12. The panel was made up of representatives from each area. The judges were:
- Shirley Hehn – Area 1 – Zonta Club of the Black Hills
- Bridget Masters – Area 2 – Zonta Club of Greeley
- Ann Hodgson – Area 3 – Zonta Foothills Club of Boulder County
- Sharon Roggy – Area 4 – Zonta Club of the Pikes Peak Area
Lori will receive a total of $1,500 at the District level ($500 from District 12 and $1,000 from ZI) and $7,000 from Zonta International for a total of $8,500.
In appreciation for serving as judges, Evie has made a donation in each of their names to the Zonta International Foundation – Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship. Thank you ladies!!!
Lori Lewis has a perfect 4.0 GPA in accounting while working and raising a family. She received glowing recommendations from the university, has received many awards, honors, scholarships and fellowships and still finds time for volunteer activities. She plans to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and wishes to practice accounting in Wyoming and be a contributing member of the Wyoming Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Governor Sheila and JMK Coordinator Evie traveled to Laramie in December to present Lori the checks and certificates.
Congratulations to Lori Lewis and the Zonta Club of Laramie.
